Thank you for using ZedChristian ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect about you, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
This policy applies to the ZedChristian website at zedchristian.com, our progressive web app at zedchristian.com/pwa, and our native mobile app ZedChristian available on Google Play and (in future) the Apple App Store.
Summary: We collect only what we need to give you a personal account (name, username, optional email, optional profile fields). We do not sell your data. We do not run third-party ads. Everything you share is stored securely on our own servers in a database we control.
1.Information we collect
Information you give us
When you create an account we collect:
- Required: your display name, a username you choose, and a password (stored as a bcrypt hash — we never see or store your password in plain text)
- Optional: your email address (for account recovery), church, city, province, a short bio, and your favourite Bible verse
- Optional: an avatar colour and emoji you pick during profile setup
When you use the platform we also record:
- Game scores, time taken, and which game you played
- Prayer requests you choose to submit (either under your name or anonymously — your choice)
- Login and logout events, timestamped, along with your device type (e.g. iPhone / Android / Desktop) and IP address, for security and abuse prevention
Information collected automatically
- Session cookies — a temporary token so you stay signed in between page loads. Deleted when you log out or close your browser (depending on your device settings).
- IP address & user agent — recorded when you sign in for security auditing (see item 9)
- Local cache (mobile app) — the app caches game content on your device so games work offline. This never leaves your device.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not track your location beyond the general city you optionally enter
- We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or SMS
- We do not use any third-party advertising trackers
- We do not sell or rent your data to anyone, ever
2.How we use your information
We use the information described above only to:
- Provide the games, prayer wall, events, and daily verses features you signed up for
- Save your scores to the leaderboard and calculate rankings
- Send you occasional in-app notifications (e.g. daily Bible verse reminder — only if you opt in)
- Detect and prevent misuse (e.g. spam prayer submissions, brute-force login attempts)
- Improve the platform by understanding which games are popular and which need refinement (aggregated statistics only — no personal identifiers)
- Reply to any support message you send us
We do not use your data to target advertising or build profiles for sale.
3.Sharing with third parties
ZedChristian is operated by a small team. We share data with third parties only when strictly required to run the service:
- Google Fonts — the site loads the "Plus Jakarta Sans" font from Google's public font CDN. Your browser's IP address is shared with Google as part of any web request (this is unavoidable for any font hosted by Google). No personal information is shared.
- Google Play Store / Apple App Store — when you download the mobile app, Google or Apple record that download per their own policies. We receive only anonymised aggregate installation counts.
- Hosting provider — our server (which stores all account and game data) is provided by our hosting company. They do not access your data.
- Law enforcement — we will disclose data only if compelled by a lawful court order from a Zambian court.
We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, marketing companies, or churches. Your prayer requests, in particular, are never shared with anyone outside the ZedChristian team, and never in identifiable form.
4.Cookies and local storage
We use only essential cookies and local storage:
- PHPSESSID — session cookie that keeps you signed in. Expires when you log out or close your browser.
- Local storage (mobile app) — caches game content for offline play. Cleared when you uninstall or clear the app's storage.
We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, or any third-party analytics service.
5.Where your data is stored
All account and gameplay data is stored on our own MySQL database hosted with our commercial hosting provider. Backups are encrypted. The database is located outside Zambia due to hosting availability, but we retain control over access at all times.
6.Children's privacy
ZedChristian is intended for a general audience, including families. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 without a parent or guardian's consent. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details in section 11 and we will delete it immediately.
We do not target children with advertising (we run no advertising at all), and the content of the app is family-friendly Bible-based educational material.
7.Your rights and choices
You have the right to:
- Access the information we hold about you (visible in your profile page, or you can email us for a full export)
- Correct any information you believe is inaccurate (edit your profile at any time)
- Delete your account and all associated data (see section 8)
- Restrict processing — email us to request a temporary hold
- Opt out of email or in-app notifications at any time from your profile settings
8.Deleting your account
You can request full deletion of your account and all associated data by:
- Emailing us at admin@zedchristian.com with the subject "Delete my account", from the email associated with your account
- Including your username in the message
We will delete your account and all personal data within 7 days of receiving the request. Certain anonymised game statistics (e.g. category totals) may remain in our systems but cannot be traced back to you.
9.Security
We take security seriously:
- Passwords are stored using bcrypt hashing with a high work factor — even we cannot see them
- All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS
- Login attempts and session activity are logged so we can detect suspicious behaviour
- Our database is behind a firewall and only accessible via authenticated administrator sessions
No system is 100% secure, however. If we discover a data breach that affects you personally, we will notify you within 72 hours by email (if you provided one) and via a prominent notice on the site.
10.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will:
- Update the "Effective" date at the top of this page
- Post a prominent notice on the homepage for at least 7 days
- If you have provided an email address, send you an email describing the change
Continued use of ZedChristian after a policy change means you accept the updated terms.
